RIYADH: Pak Shaheen qualified for the Champions League cricket when they scored a thrilling three-run win over King Faisal Specialists Hospital (Blues) in the MoneyGram Cricket Ke Badshah Twenty20 cricket tournament, organized by the Riyadh Cricket League, here.

Pak Shaheen’s move after they won the toss and elected to bat seemed to have backfired when they were jolted by the early loss of Abdul Waheed in the first over. However, Ibrar-Ul-Haq took control after that and scored a brisk 45 off 16 balls. He was supported by Abdul Qadir (55), Abdul Wahab (23) and Faisal (23). Thereafter, the KFSH bowlers were in control and had tied the rival batsmen in knots. They were also let down by poor fielding, which Abdul Salam (31), Ishaq (21) took advantage of and helped their team post a formidable 227 for 6.

Raja Gulraiz and Athar bagged two wickets each while Imtiaz and Saqib picked shared two wickets. Chasing a huge target, KFSH started disastrously and lost both openers early. Later, Irshad Mubashir (46) and Qaiser Hussain (36) stabilized the middle order. But after the run out of Qaiser, Pak Shaheen were back in the game. Syed Usman (40) and Raja Gulraiz (22) fought hard, but needed four runs off the last ball. However, that was not to be as Abdulaziz kept his nerves bowled a dot ball to take Pak Shaheen to victory. Ibrar-Ul-Haq, Abuzar and Abdul Wahab grabbed 2 wickets each while Abdul Waheed chipped in with a wicket.

In the match for the third position match, Champions Kricket Klub outclassed Amir Holidays by 5 wickets. Amir Holidays scored 216 for 6 in the allotted overs. Irfan Mushtaq top-scored with 95. Kamran Hadi (50) and Umair (20) were the other contributors. Imran Kifayat and Basit Butt picked 2 wickets.

CKK paced their chase excellently and achieved the target in 19.1 overs. Imran Kifayat played a match winning innings of 87 runs. Nouman Asghar (50), Hisham (30) and Najeeb (21) were the other run getters. Samiullah and Saeed picket 2 wickets each.
