RSTP crashed the win column after finally finding the right combination on its third try to score a 3-1 victory against SCTC in B1 category as did ANTA-JRTC in category C against Dark Horse while Madina Printing passed its initial assignment blanking JRTC-4 in another category C clash in the 25th Astec Team Tennis Challenge at the tennis courts of Hotel Al-Bilad and Sheraton Hotel in Jeddah Corniche.

After losing successive matches against DPWorld 2(26) — 2(28) and JRTC 1-3 Red Sea Tennis Players (RSTP) category B1 team posted its first win, 3-1 against SCTC-Pepsi of Saudia City Tennis Club.

Starting hot in the first set with Tonton Pana-Ramon Monterde winning 8-1 over Ricky-Haroun Ratag, RSTP was stopped in the second set as Al Manarandong-Alama Macapaar lost 7-8 on tiebreak to SCTC-Pepsi’s Hassan-Abdo Poole to even the count at 1-1. In the third set singles play, RSTP’s Ayman cruised to an 8-1 win against Joreed to put RSTP ahead at 2-1 with an unreachable point margin of 13-point lead.

A close fourth set was won by Domelo Gesto-Benny Lazarte with an 8-6 score against Nilo-Sandy Dalit to chalk a 3-1 victory for RSTP

In category C hostilities, Jeddah Ranao Tennis Club’s Anta team scored its first win at the expense of Dark Horse. After taking the first set with Farouk Salacop-Alex Modi’s 8-6 win over Edward Forrosuelo-Mansour Khalid, Raldi-Yousuf lost 2-8 to Kelly Cortes-Bobring Yparraguire in the second set to tie the score at 1-1.

In the third set singles Ali survived the tiebreak to go past Herbert Amores and give the 2-1 lead to ANTA. Then Michael-Nick closed out the fourth set at 8-6 against Cyrill-Richard Camat to register a 3-1 victory for ANTA.

In another matchup, Madina Printing scored heavily against JRTC-4 as it strolled to victory without dropping a set. An 8-0 win by Roy Panes-Edgar Nique against Hisan-Arman in the first set was followed by an 8-1 set score by Gollie Aranza-Obet Arpon over Taps-Camad to put Madina Printing in the lead at 2-0.

Third set singles play pitted Ruben Dunque against a no-show Willy giving the former an 8-0 score and assuring the team’s victory at 3-0. Then Rannell Acasio-Pete Arrozal combined to close out the set at 8-3 against Habib-Jimmy to complete the 4-0 sweep and register their first win in the tournament.
