Sarawat Superstores put the lock on the coveted No. 1 spot in style, winning Team of the Week honors at the end of eliminations during the 17th session in the FTBJ-ICBL 32nd Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.

Sarawat returned the top tally of 37 points to decisively end the fight for No. 1 with Cristal Global in its favor. It was the fourth team award for Sarawat, the most by any team in the competition that winds down to its last two weeks.

Along with Sarawat and Cristal Global, which had 33 points in second place on the day, Falcon is outright finalist despite coming up with only 13 points. The remaining seven teams play three games with handicap series with the highest three to qualify as Nos. 4, 5 and 6 teams in the championship round.

Hidada Ltd., Lance & 3rdy and Sky Freight-TFC, which are all widely tipped to advance to the finals, compile 29, 27 and 23 points in that order.

Jem Strikers came through with 22, D’ Barkads had 14 while Jeddah Lanes and JM Derby brought up the rear on 12 and 10 points.

Lourdes Punzalan doubled the joy for Sarawat when she clinched the ladies Bowler fo the Week award on 612.

To Goying Salazar of Sy Freight went the men’s Bowler of the Week plum after he shot the high series of 665.

While Sarawat was steady Cristal had been hit hard by a poor second game that Sarawat won where it could only gather 4 oints in eighth place.

Besides Punzalan the others that did well for Sarawat were Majid Aslani, Paolo Allegeo and Nick Gozun on 632, 625 and 604 with Marie Gumpal on 506.

Zaldy Bacero and Bonie Garcia took charge at Cristal on 648 and 593 with Merlen Pamintuan and Len-Len Berina contributing 557 and 537 from the distaff side.

Over at Hidada, Nanding Siasoco fired the secon best score of 663 in a performance that Rene Martinez and Jun Palacios backed up on 594 and 592. Hidada’s ladies pair of Pinky Acato and Grace Siasoco tossed in 579 and 490.

Lance and 3rdy built its total on the five-man team of Ding Dela Rosa 591, Med Ramos 578, Ric Reformado 570, Shirley Sagmit 570 and Aisah Silabay 518.

Imelda Sayago carded 599 in support of Salazar at Sky Freight, while Oca Bernabe and Rod Morales added 530 and 512. Grace Dasas made 426.
