The final event of the Riyadh Triathletes season was the Olympic distance event.

This event consists of 1500m swim, 40km bike and 10km run. For the first time in a number of years RT had a single location event thanks to the management of Al Bustan Compound.

The 40km bike leg was to prove extremely gruelling with a hilly and windy course in the usual Riyadh dry heat. To attract as many competitors as possible, a short biathlon event (250m swim, 2.5km run) was added in the event that saw an excellent turnout of 103 competitors.

A winning swim split was the start of an exceptional overall winning performance from Christophe Sargis.

Raul Minarro came second with a particularly strong bike leg. Both athletes traveled from the Eastern Province to join the final event.

Antonio Castellanos came a very creditable overall third place, just ahead of Cameron Ball who took the Junior title with an excellent run split time. Al McDermott took the Male Veterans first place and Emma Gillespie Female Veteran first place with a very much improved performance. Eduardo Lando took first place Male Master, Anne Morrissey first Female Master. Katy Taylor took first overall Female which was particularly impressive as she only completed the Wales Ironman event a few days earlier. First Male Senior was Paul McParland. A number of juniors took part in the shorter biathlon event.

As the RT season events come to a close the Riyadh Wheelers and Riyadh Running Clubs take over. The next triathlon season will start from April next year.
