MADINAH: Shaheen XI emerged champion of the MoneyGram Madinah Cricket League (MCL) when they defeated My Care Hala via the Super Over. Both teams were tied after the stipulated 20 overs.

Shaheen opted to bat first and posted 172 for 8. Wajid (44) and Khadim Hussain (61) were the main run getters. Mansour and Sajjad took 2 wickets each.

My Care Hala chased and finished at 172 for 8 to tie the match. Sajjad (32), Musawwer (25), Yunus (25) and Asif (27) did their best. Rafeeq and Ashfaque grabbed 2 wickets each.

In the Super Over, My Care Hala set a target of 21 runs, which was easily achieved by Shaheen XI through skipper Rafeeq who hammered three towering sixes off the first three balls and led his team to victory.

Qasim Ali Naqvi, Sadiqul Islam and Kashif Mirza were the chief guests. Others present at the final were Imtiyaz Mughal, Farook, Ilyas Gul, Rai Mushtaque, Zeeshan and Zahid Ali.

Shaheen XI’s Rafeeq was presented the winners’ trophy while his counterpart Musawwar received the runner-up cup.

Man of the Tournament was given to Mohammed Mubin, Best Batsman went Musawwar and the Best bowler was awarded to Sohail Bhatti.

Special cash prizes were given to the umpires.
