Sky Freight Forwarders nailed a Team of the Week and ladies Bowler of the Week double to become the third different team to win the race for honors during the third session in the FTBJ-ICBL 34th Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.

Displaying a solid game, Emy de Guzman’s Sky Freight squad separated itself from the tightly bunched pack by posting the top tally of 41 points.

Lucky Strike ended up in a tie with Purefoods Hotdog and Hidada Ltd. on 33 points but it couldn’t be happier with the result as it took over the lead from previous week honoree JP Gilas Striker, who could only gather 20 points in seventh place on the day.

D’ Barkads returned 30 points with Lance & 3rdy on 25 points. Defending champion Alliance in Motion Global had a tepid display to be on 16 points. Pin Crushers, D’ Frontiers and GM Pin Pals occupied the last three places on 14, 11 and 8 points in that order.

Nanding Siasoco of Hidada was the men’s Bowler of the Week after he shot the high series of 651 on lines of 212, 202 and 177.

Except for the third game where it finished fourth for 8 points it was Sky Freight all the way with de Guzman’s charges taking the first two games and owning the top overall output on 3,004.

Goying Salazar and Rene Santiago complemented the big game by Sayago with solid rounds of 627 and 604. Babes Tiongson added 585 from the distaff side while James Galvan contributed 168-159 and Atoi Cruz 180.

New league leader and first runner-up in the last conference Lucky Strike also got a big lift from its lady bowler, Matet Cavite, who drilled 636 to go with the 601 by Rudy Valenzuela, 574 by Nurissa Ramos, 555 by Frank Afurong, 162-168 by Ruben Grino and 195 by Danny Bautista.

For Purefoods Hotdog, the second runner-up in the last tournament then under the colors of Paradise Brand, none broke 600 with Cesar Monares and Marie Gumpal on 578 and 575 respectively. Team captain Igna Salgado tallied 566, Len-Len Berina had 563 while Majid Aslani and Nick Gozun carded 168-217 and 201.

In addition to Siasoco the other scorers at Hidada were Francis Guron 586, Pinky Acato 543, Grace Siasoco 504, Nonie Yap 191-188 and Amro Al Amri 207.

Meantime, the FTBJ monthly final for the month of July in the men’s division takes place Saturday with 7 p.m. roll-off at Jeddah Lanes.
