Sky Freight Forwarders became the first to repeat as Team of the Week in the young Qatar Airways-AFTBL 48th Open Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.

Sky Freight delivered the goods once again to claim honors during the fifth week of the competition where it enjoyed a fast start by winning the Team of the Week award on opening night.

Sky Freight returned the top tally of 39 points with Jem-FTBJ a distant second on 33 points followed by Taurus 32 and Faris Trading.

Idol compiled 28 points to be in fifth place on the day. MC Hammer was three points adrift on 25 in a tie with Jeddah 500 with Moe-AFM on 24, while Lipton Chai Latte 14, Habagat 8 and Bank Al-Jazira 6 filled the last three places in this Saturday five-man team league event.

To Jimmy Mandingiado of Idol went the Bowler of the Week after he shot the high series of 680 on scratch games of 199, 216, 202.

Bonnie Garcia led three players to go the distance at Sky Freight on 630 with veteran Rene Santiago on 597 and James Galvan on 569. Another veteran bowler in the Sky Freight roster, Cris Villavelez, tossed in 212-189 while Pancho Cuevas had 223-205.

Over at Jem-FTBJ the duo of Efren San Pedro and Rey Beltran struck hardest on 674 and 648. Rally Zamora and Jeff San Pedro added 541 and 540 respectively while Ladio Gonzales and Gerry Tano accounted for the remaining three games on 160-228 and 195.

For league-leading Taurus three players rolled complete games — Raul delos Reyes 664, Nap Patayan 578 and Joel Nidoy 558. The rest of the scorers were Edwin Ronquillo 177-212, Alex Flora 212-169 and Jun de Dios 164-170.

Faris Trading used a single set of five players led by Gerry Mandanas on 641. Igna Salgado scored 621, Frank Afurong made 576, Hero Garcia returened 562 and Jun Palacios came through with 554.

Mandingiado led a five-man Idol charge that contained the 583 by Bash Langa, 580 by Fred Cunca, 552 by Jess Pineda and 508 by Sol Cuenca.

Leading the way at MC Hammer were the trio of Ruel Satnoc 589, Jay Bengco 570 and Robert Bato 545.
