JEDDAH: The Jeddah Basketball League opened its 2014 JBL First Conference Invitational Non-Rated Basketball Tournament last Friday at Bin Mahfouz basketball court at Andalus District here in Jeddah.

Participating teams paraded in their resplendent uniforms during the opening ceremony which JBL President Mohammed Rasheed Suyat and JBL Tournament Director Ibrahim Atienza presided. Baba Ahmad Peradilla and Bro Fares Diaz of Jeddah Dawa’h Center provided the inspirational Islamic Dawa’h.

The awards for the Best team in uniform went to Fuchs Petroleum, ALJ Leasing and UDG while claiming the Best Muse and Mascot accolades were Danya Foods, TRCIJ, KAMC, Pinoy Jeddah Group, Mahmoud Gharib and UDG.

In the initial opener game, Barangay Fame of Gerry Miramonte beat Al Ettifaq 43-40. It was an exciting match as the scores keep changing side in the whole game. Barangay Fame went to the open man in their final offense as Al Ettifaq missed the equalizer. Garcia top score with 16 points Barangay Fame and was adjudged as the Giordano best player of the game while Infeliz scored 12 points for Al Ettifaq.

ALJ Leasing of Ronald Uranza defeated KAMC 62-41. KAMC a new team in JBL missed important baskets in the final quarter as ALJ Leasing showed a lot of team works to claim their first win. LLamado led ALJ Leasing with 13 points and was adjudged as the Saudi Signs best player of the game while Pascua had 10 points for KAMC.

Urban Design Group (UDG) of Ariel Acedera scores over Al Muhaidib 59-57. Both teams played well in the whole games. Al Muhaidib almost won the game but missed a crucial follow-up. UDG made a desperation jumper but missed and a follow up by Alpas in and the final buzzer sounded. Alpas top score with 21 points for UDG and was adjudged as the JBL best player of the game while Ostonal scored 21 with his outside snipping.
