The fourth conference of the Unified Filipino Tenpin Bowlers of Riyadh (UFTBR) regular Tuesday league dubbed UFTBR-Etihad Airways Tuesday Bowling League rolled off last week at the Universal Bowling Center (UBC) here.

A total of 14 teams entered the league sponsored by Etihad Airways which will run for 30 weeks.

In the opening night, Team NBA led by ace bowler Ronald Bautista wasted no time in positioning themselves as the early favorites with a convincing 20-11 win over Mandirigma. Bautista rolled a 4-game series of 935 to lead the NBA with contributions from Joe Garrido (897), Joel Batolina (847), Art Yukong (790), Bandar Al Marshad (400) and Fernie Ballano (397).

In other games, SABB Advance equally gave a menacing notice to the other teams with a similar 20 point victory over new comer Yaris X (3 points), Saudi Oger beat Thrill Seekers (14 to 10), Lane Cruiser cruised past Habagat (17 to 8), SACO Bolts defeated PinPals (17 to 7), Ayaw Na won over Vinnell Arabia (16 to 8) and Unica spoiled the debut of defending champion Majestic (formerly Aces) with a 17-10 victory in their matchup.

Ric Urrutia Jr. of SABB Advance overshadowed Bautista with an awesome display of bowling skill on the way to a series of 974 that gave him Bowler of the Week honors together with Beth Danganan of Unica with a series 867. NBA took the Team of the Week award.

Fahad Fervez, marketing coordinator of Etihad Airways, graced the brief opening ceremony of the event and informed the league that at least three return air tickets will be up for grabs for outstanding bowlers in addition to the weekly prizes which will be given to individual achievers.

UFBTR Chairman Ernee Noto would like to thank all the participating teams for their continued support and participation and the league organizing committee namely Cesar De Mesa (chairman), Armin Isles, Ian Choco, Jim Dela Rosa, Ruby Urrutia, Dennis Durens and Pao Feria for once again putting together another exciting bowling tournament.
