JEDDAH: Al Ryan Water Town Team Strikers were the first to enter semifinals of the second division Western Union football league championship, when they edged past Combined Brothers 2-1, organized by the Saudi Indian Football Forum at the Education Ministry Stadium in Faisaliyah district, here.

Sakeer and Muhammed Swinan scored for winners while Suneer Babu reduced the margin.

Riyaz of Town Team was the Man-of-the-Match.

KTA Muneer, Zulfikar Odhayi,Ummer Arimbra, Muhammed Miyami and Naufal Chokli were the guests who were introduced to the players.

Abid scored the first hat trick in the first division league, which helped Real Day 2 Day rout ABC Cargo Yas Club.

Abid gave Day 2 Day the lead early in the first half when he converted a pass from man-of-the-match, Nageri.

YAS tried hard to find the equalizer but wasted the opportunities that came their way. However, their efforts bore fruit after the change of ends when Mohammed Naseeri equalized following a spot kick.

Their joy was short-lived as they conceded after a couple of minutes when Nijas put his team ahead. Nageri then converted a penalty. Abid then scored two quick goals to complete his hat trick.

Navas Vembayam ( Navodaya Gen Sec), P.V. Ashraf (MES Jeddah president), Mohan Balan (ex-SIFF auditor) and Nishad Kolakadan (Real Kerala, last week’s best player in first division) were introduced to the players.

In the Inter-School first match of the day for the Al-Abeer Trophy, Delhi Public School and Al-Wurood International School shared two points and goals. Both teams have entered the last four stage.

Man of the match Sultan Saqi gave Al-Wurood the lead while Jazeel equalized for DPS in the second half.

Rasheed Varikodan, Sulfiqar Odhayi and Abdul Majeed were introduced to the players.
