Tanmiah, also called the Social Development Committee, in cooperation with the Eastern Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Dar Alyaum, will run a 30-day summer program, beginning today at the Social Development Committee Center in Dammam's Al-Rawdah neighborhood. The program is supported by the deputy governor of the Eastern Province, Prince Abdulaziz bin Jalawi.
Addressing a press conference Thursday, Tanmiah chairperson Mohammad Al-Khamis, said: “We are aiming to train more than 4,000 youngsters through this skills development program. We will provide them with 100,000 hours of training courses in different aspects of life. We will also run other useful coaching programs for sports, such as, karate, soccer and swimming.”
According to Al-Khamis, they have been running such a program for the last seven years. “We have trained more than 6,000 youngsters so far. However, we aim to go further and develop the program in order to meet the community members’ needs," he said.
Abdulrahman Al-Wabel, secretary-general of the Asharqia Chamber, said the chamber is always delighted to participate in social programs that help develop the community. “We are more than eager to provide logistic support in order to promote these kinds of programs,” he said.
Naif Al-Subai, the program manager, said: “We have in this program 50 different job categories. We posted them online. However, after processing the documents, we chose the best 50 youngsters (male and female) who will run this program effectively.”
The program will include different training sessions. “We are trying to run programs which are up-to-date. “We want to focus on programs that our youngsters need these days. We bring in experts who are specialized in order to help young people to get maximum benefit," said Al-Subai.
“The program will include basic professional photography skills, skills of using the wheelchair, Twitter programs, marketing strategies, make-up skills for girls, skills of treating the disabled, media programs, computer programs, and English language courses, among others,” said Al-Subai. “At the end of the training program, each participant will get a certificate that is accredited by the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC),” said Al-Subai.
