This refers to Farouk Luqman’s article, “Benazir Bhutto: Her overweening attitude did not pay off,” (Dec 7).
I liked the subject of the article. He has rightly said that for “the powers” that could kill Zia-ul-Haq so easily, killing Benazir Bhutto was much easier. Just ponder how that tragic event occurred:
1. Her van was carrying her out of Liaquat Bagh where Ms. Benazir Bhutto had delivered her speech. But the gate was closed;
2. While the van stood she came out of the roof's window to wave hands;
3. Instantly upon coming out she was shot and she died instantly (It never came out what was the actual cause of her death. Because her husband, Asif Ali Zardari, disallowed the postmortem);
4. By 6 p.m. PST when the media immediately confirmed her death, we witnessed countrywide riots destroying public and private properties and no law and order was present in the country; and
5. Her own party, despite being in power for the last five years, has not been able to find the culprits. — Altaf Ismail, By e-mail
