This refers to the report “Sarkozy got 50m euros from Qaddafi” (Jan. 4). It is very much distressing and reveals the hypocrisy of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy. As a matter of fact, 50 million euros was not a small amount, and it was a big favor from Qaddafi and out of this fund Sarkozy could manage to win the 2007 election in France.
This report also gives us a moral lesson that the Western leaders can never be trusted. After fulfilling their needs, they dump their benefactors. As everyone knows that Qaddafi was in a dire situation and he desperately needed the support from France to come out of the turmoil. But let alone helping Qaddafi, Sarkozy led the entire military campaign to oust Qaddafi.
It also indicates that Sarkozy was trying to hide the financial transaction between him and Qaddafi and therefore he was eager to eliminate him. — Anees Lokhande, Alkhobar
