KARACHI: Celebrated humanitarian and Edhi Foundation Chairman Abdul Sattar Edhi died in Karachi on Friday after a prolonged illness, Pakistani media reported. Revered by Pakistanis as a national hero, Edhi was 92. He was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2013 but had been unable to receive a transplant due to frail health. The philanthropist’s son announced that the funeral prayers will be offered on Saturday after Dhuhr prayer at Memon Masjid. Edhi will then be laid to rest at Edhi village.
