Indian expatriates from Gulbarga district of the southern Karnataka state celebrated the 5th anniversary of Gulbarga Charitable and Welfare Trust (GCWT) in Jeddah recently.
Indian Consul for Education and Higher Studies Shakil Ahmed was the chief guest and Mohammed Sayeeduddin, president of Indian Engineers Forum (IEF), the guest of honor.
Shakeel appreciated the involvement of the GCWT in social and educational causes for poor residents in their area and assured all help to those undertaking welfare programs.
Mirza Azam Baig, president of the trust, explained the achievements of the trust during the past five years and said the trust's activities covered education, health care and self-employment, as well as extending financial help to the poor, especially orphan girls for getting married.
Rashid Javid, working committee president of the GCWT, who was here for Umrah, also attended the function and appreciated the efforts of Gulburgans working in Saudi Arabia for the welfare of the poor and needy persons back home.
Dr. Ajazul Haque, executive member of the trust, described the GCWT as a non-political non-governmental organization and said it had been serving the cause of humanity. Syed Nasir Khursheed, vice president of the trust, conducted the program and Syed Ashfaq Ahmed, executive member of the trust, gave a vote of thanks.
