Two Saudi nationals, who were abducted and tortured in Lebanon, arrived at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam aboard Saudi Arabian Airlines flight from Beirut last night.
The two were rescued by the Lebanese security forces, who worked “in conjunction” with the Saudi Embassy in Beirut last Wednesday after being in captivity in an apartment for eight days.
The duo, Tawfiq and Abdullah Al-Shaqaqeeq, according to the Saudi ambassador to Lebanon, were “lured and tricked by a gang loyal to an Arab state,” after which they were held and tortured for eight days while the kidnappers demanded a “huge ransom” in exchange for their release. Officials did not reveal the nationality of the kidnappers.
The two victims received medical treatment at the American hospital in Beirut before they were sent home to the Kingdom.
In view of this incident, the Saudi ambassador urged all Saudis in Lebanon to stay "only in well-known hotels and stay away from private apartments," and called on visitors to register with the embassy upon arrival in Beirut.
The ambassador also warned Saudis to stay away from Lebanon's border areas.
