Nearly 50 students graduated last week from an Arabic language and Islamic education course designed for students from international schools in the capital.
The Cooperative Center For Call and Guidance organized the program, which is called Al-Wafi.
More than 300 members from the expatriate community, including school principals and Islamic preachers, attended the graduation ceremony.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasir Al-Saleh, the center’s chairman, thanked the parents for the support they gave to their children to learn Arabic language in an Islamic environment.
Executive Director of the Al-Wafi program, Sheikh Abdul Ahad bin Abdul Quddus Nazir, said, “The whole idea of the program is to prepare students as effective Islamic propagators, when they enter the society on completion of their studies.
The top 10 students from the group were awarded trophies and special certificates in appreciation of their performance during their studies.
Al-Wafi is a five-year program, which includes two years of study of the Arabic language and three years for Islamic education. Classes are conducted during the weekends for two days.
The next evening program is expected to start from Sept. 13 this year. It is estimated that more than 140 students from Asia, Europe, Africa and the United States will join the program.
