JEDDAH, 14 December — The powerhouse team of the Al Alamiah Insektos scorched Jeddah Bowling Center with a series of impressive strikes on the final match of the first round-robin at the BBG Tuesday Night League.
Al Alamiah team captain Arnold C. Alday, who is the chairman of the Brotherhood Bowling Group that organized the League, led the Insektos in setting afire the 24-lane JBC to score 77 points.
The impressive performances of Al Alamiah snatched the Team of the Week award and took the pole position on the table. The prize, however, will be given to Bakin & Co. in accordance with the rules. Bakin & Co. is captained by Bakin Lanes.
Alday flashed his outstanding performances, drilled a series of strikes and posted a 3-game series of 671 including handicap. Mao “shim” Orolfo delivered 628, Hashim “star diplomat” Guinomla posted 615 and Sid “shade” Lapena shot 623 that summed up their 3-game 4-man team series to 2537 pins for 22 rank points.
Pitted against Otra Cosa under the captainship of Cosa Sta. Ana, Al Alamiah Insektos fired 879 at the start when Alday burned the lanes with five strikes for a scratch score of 235. Orolfo (205), Lapena (201) and Guinomla (195) assisted Alday to earn 20 points.
Otra Cosa quartet of Bert Rodillo, Rudy Punzalan, Ver Magsino and team captain Cosa Sta. Ana swept 752 pins including handicap and collected 8 points.
Al Alamiah duplicated their earnings on the second game (20 points) when Guinomla (204), Orolfo (202), “tinted” Lapena (197) and BBG honcho Alday (200) swept 846 including handicap. Otra Cosa increased their share to 11 points after Rodillo (215), Sta. Ana (173) and Magsino (194) shot above average games (782).
Internet@Kape snatched the maximum 22 points at the start through the sterling games of Goying Salazar (235), Roger Dacquioag (198), Mixi Lechuga (220) and Alex Guinto (234). The quartet produced a series of 913 including handicap after routing frontrunner Sky Freight Forwarders.
The “cargo specialists” packed a total of 833 pins including the 29-pin handicap and earned 18 points when Cris “veteran” Villavelez (187), perfect-record holder Rene Santiago (212), Fred Monzon (202) and Nestor Quiteves (203) flexed their muscles for impressive pocket strikes but they failed to slice the 8-mark deficit.
Although they won the final game by one pin (809-808) equivalent to 14-13 points, respectively, SkyFreight Forwarders have had no chance to hit a high game. Their second set merely scored 6 points (769) while their series of 2411 raked 16.
The sizzling Internet fizzled down on the remaining games, shot 798 (13 points) on the succeeding set and again earned 13 (808) on the final stretch. Their total series of 2519, however, produced 20 points that summed up their earnings to 68.
Sarawat Aces returned to the center lane with much vigor than last week, posted 67 points at the expense of Abudawood Trading Establishment. The latter scored 46.
Playing on lanes 3 and 4, Jun Cabral was unstoppable at the beginning. He led the team in bagging Brooklyn strikes, converted incredible spares and scored 243.
Team captain Rally Zamora was equally superb, blasted the lanes with 232. Odjie Sagcal (200) and Igna Salgado (185) provided the necessary assists and brought their series to 909 including handicap (21 points). Abudawood “traders” Lindo Villanueva, Hero Garcia, Emil Payongayong and Felix Julaton traded 799 pins with handicap and gained 16 points.
Zamora and Cabral rolled off over 200 on the second set but Sagcal pulled them down when he scored 145 after meeting walls of splits. Sarawat Aces carded 793 for 9 points. Trading also went bearish that the “traders” merely auctioned 745 pins for four points.
At the final stretch, Abudawood pair of Julaton and Payongayong accelerated till the last frame, scored 223 and 202, respectively. With Garcia (182) and Villanueva (164) firing average games, the “traders” gained 17 points (823). Sarawat ace stalwart Cabral continued to inspire his team belted out 217 and brought his team’s series to 822 for 16 points.
Thunderball scored 62 points when Ghassan Al Masri flashed his sterling performances on the second game and scored 257. Wadia Muhammad, Hussein Al Assiri and Mahmoud Hassan provided the assists. The opposting Guess? team submitted 21 points.
Bakin & Co. quartet of Bakin Llanes, Emer Altre, Willie Arnaldo and Renz Santos stunned KKB at the start of the match, posted the scores of 791-773 equivalent to 14-9, respectively.
KKB rebounded after a stunning defeat when the foursome of Randy Mata, Ver Luz, Majid Aslani and Bobby Barraquel scored a series of 795 (11 points). Bakin posted a score of 701 (1 point). On the final stretch Mata, Luz, Aslani and Barraquel blasted JBC with a score of 865 and snatched the 22 maximum points.
Sarawat star bowler Jun Cabral bagged the bowler of the week award at a 3-game series of 693. He hit the lines of 243, 203, 217, which were fortified by his 10-pin handicap per game.
Tariq Al Twairib was the top contender after he duplicated his score of 254 on the first game but he met walls of splits on the final set and scored a very low 136. His outstanding performances on the first two games, however, confirmed his membership to the BBG Elite Club.
New registrants to the Club were Andy Erena (257) of the Power Strikers and Ghassan Al Masri (257) of the Thunderball.
