RIYADH, 28 December — The 1st FOBR 20 Winter Games rolled off recently with 12 teams participating in 5 major 20 events. The team, singles, doubles, trio and the master’s events.
After 20 the first 2 days of this 4-day competition, three events had been played; 20 team, trio and doubles.
In the team event, the BAE Systems, captained by Art 20 Palustre, had bested other participating teams and emerged as the champion. The 20 players are composed of Art Palustre, Rico Feria, Caloy Palenzuela, Rex 20 Famadico, Rina Labo and Fe Ricalde.
The first runner-up goes to the team of the 20 challengers captained by Bernie Sarmiento. Second runner-up goes to a 20 ‘bagets’ team and they call themselves, Breakdown, team captained by 20 John Manaloto.
In the doubles event, the combination of Rico Feria and Art 20 Palustre emerged as the Champion by a close 5 pins difference (1504) in the 20 men’s division, followed by the duo of Willie de Mesa and Beth Danganan 20 (1499) and the 2nd runner-up goes to the duo of Ver Cayago and Benjie 20 Domado (1425), veteran Jeddah bowlers.
In the ladies division, the duo of 20 Melette Honculada and Arlene Arenas (1409) were the Champion, followed by the 20 combination of Susan Sarmiento and Lani dela Cruz (1315). Second runner-up goes 20 to the duo of Cecille Solomon and Cely Mendoza (1302).
In the Trio event, the combination of Rodel Huidem, Abe 20 Abulencia and Pat Nave (2248) emerged as the champion. First runner-up goes to 20 the trio of Benjie Domado, Neil Gafur and Ellen Bernabe (2121).
The second 20 runner-up goes to the team of Oca Bernabe, Ver Cayago and Toom Sriprom (2121). 20 Tie score was based from high and low differences to determine the 20 1st and 2nd runners-up.
The top 3 players in the all events are Willie de Mesa (2359), 20 Rodel Huidem (2303) and Benjie Domado (2255) in the men’s division. In the 20 ladies division, the leading players are Beth Danganan (2076), followed by Fe 20 Ricalde (2060) and Lani dela Cruz (2016).
These games major sponsor is the Philippine Air Lines through 20 its country manager, Jun Ordillano.
Other sponsors are Cash and Carry 20 Restaurant, through Joe Nakhoong and Manny Villasenor. With special thanks 20 also to and Mrs. Arnold Alday who pledged a guaranteed prize of SR1000 to 20 male bowler who would score 260 scratch and 230 to a female bowler but 20 unluckily, no player was able to claim this early bonus which was pledged for 20 the first two days of the scheduled winter games.
The most significant role in this game is the participation of 20 the team of Noli Ritual who headed the OFWBR, a Filipino workers bowling group 20 in Riyadh. This is a fine start in initiating camaraderie, cooperation and unity 20 among bowlers in the Filipino community in Riyadh.
Yesterday was the singles event and today masters event will be played.
