CAIRO, 5 January — Prince Nawaf ibn Faisal ibn Fahd, vice- president of the Youth Welfare Presidency and deputy chairman of the Saudi Football Federation, has been voted as the Sports Personality of the Year in the Arab world in an opinion poll conducted by the Cairo-based Al-Ahram Al-Arabi magazine.
Leading Arab sports critics and experts participated in the poll. They also elected Al-Shabab of Egypt as the best Arab soccer team. Nasser Al-Jauhar, Saudi football coach and Shauqi Gharib, coach of the Egyptian Al-Shabab were adjudged as the best coaches of the year in the poll. (SPA)
