DOHA, 29 January — On behalf of the employees of Inter.Continental Hotel in Doha, Johny A. Fattelah, General Manager of Hotel-Inter.Continental Doha, welcomed a variety of journalists and dignitaries to a ceremony marking the first anniversary of the hotel on Jan. 15. The theme of the evening was “Six Continents”, which was chosen as it reflected both the name of the company that owns the Inter.Continental chain, as well of stressing the worldwide presence of the Inter.Continental name.
The hotel was built in a record time of 17 months. It was completed speedily to host an Islamic Summit Conference, and its delegates started arriving the day after the inauguration. There was 100 percent occupancy in the days it followed. Within a year after the inauguration, the hotel had the honor of hosting several heads of state, prime ministers and members of royal families, as well as political leaders and well-known artists and sportsmen.
