RIYADH, 1 February — On the continuation of the keenly contested Giordano/OFBWR Payanigan Wednesday Bowling League, the PNB Bankeros ATBP and Pat Raz displayed separate sterling performances to romp-away the team of the week and the bowler of the week awards, respectively on the 11th week of the league at the Riyadh Inter-Continental Hotel Bowling Center.
The PNB Bankeros Atbp team, considered as one of the top contenders for the plum recorded an impressive 24 — 0 win against the Calabarzon I to climb-up the ladder to occupy the second topmost position behind the new league leader, the Scorpions II team. PNB’s top-gunners Jun Evangelista and Aloy Mier, who left the Kingdom recently displayed devastating forms to top score by posting a separate four game series of 750 and 740.
Rodel Yap was at his best output too follow Evangelista and Mier by carding a three game series of 604. Dong Calub toppled 519 series in three matches while PNB’s country manager, Usman Navarro and team captain, Jun Pineda contributed a series of 397 and 369 in two sets. James Frizzle and Bert Lopez chipped-in 172 and 136 in one game.
The Pin Heads team keglers captained by Egai Asuncion proved too strong over the SkyFreight Forwarders to record an impressive victory. The Pin Heads garnered 20 big points while the SkyFreight collected 8 points. Asuncion’s fiery performance piloted the Pin Head in beating the SkyFreight team. Asuncion who started his bid in the first game by rolling a game-low of 132, came back with vengeance in the remaining three games to post a four game series of 793. A game-high of 268 was recorded by Asuncion in the second game which gave him the way to join the OFWBR 250 Club Member. Asuncion’s 268 was the league current high scratch score to beat erasing the previous score of Benjie Domado’s 257.
For his feat, Asuncion will receive a personalized OFWBR jacket and Giordano sports jacket. Rene Clemente sizzled too along with Asuncion by tallying a series of 771 in four matches. Noli Agliam, Joey Geronimo and Ric Urrutia, Sr. supported the Pin Heads team by contributing a series of 762, 710 and 703.
Submitting the best output in the SkyFreight Forwarders team is the duo of Arnel "tata isko" and Rolly Amis who carded a series 743 and 723. Oca Bernabe and Lito Junio rolled a series of 573 and 521 in three matches while Jimmy Medina and Jun "wonder boy" Malana downed a series of 385 and 307 in two games. Larry Mondoy and Atoy Malubay had 167 and 158 in one match.
The Split Converters team of Rolly Manalang upset the E-Banking (17-9) and leading scorers in the Split Converters was Joe Concepcion with a series of 803 in four games.
The trios of Jomari de Luna, Romy Matic and Marvin Arocena excelled to came-in next to Concepcion. De Luna fired a series of 747 while Matic and Arocena submitted an identical four game series of 701. Boy Galang collected a series of 620.
For the E-Banking team mentored by Ely Reyes, at helm was the Jun "centennial" Manalili with a seriesof 725. Reyes produced a four game series of 655. Teody Zulaybar and Ed "lastikman" Sy pocketed a series of 552 and 506 in three games. Freddie Aquino and Clem Guelas scored a series of 388 and 321 in two games.
The Scorpions II of Boy Bartolome continued their winning streak by demolishing the undermanned Ariba-Arabia of Mar Reyes (17-0). Joel Alegre led in the Scorpions with a series of 741. Roger Fortuno, Jun Ego and Bartolome shared a separate four game series of 699, 697 and 656.
11th week bowler of the week awardee, Pat Raz with 10 handicaps per game powered the Pangasinan Strikers team to wallop the Game Ka Na Ba (16-12). Pat shot a towering series of 856 to clinch the coveted Giordano bowler of the week honor. Jojo Demetrio sparkled a series of 728 while Joey Maningas tallied a four game series of 715.
Yuli Braganza and Phol Grepo compiled an identical four game series of 698. On top in the Game Ka Na Ba team was Jell Tan with a series of 759, followed by Jasper Durago (756), Gigi Enriquez (734) and Rene Tanglao (640).
The exciting match between the Coolebraz and the Calabarzon II resulted at 13-7, in favor of the Coolebraz of Donjie Mapalad. Raul Medina and Romy Liggayu of the Coolebraz are at helm with a series of 757 and 750. Mapalad and Larry Manalo pocketed a series of 671 and 658 in four outings while Chris Tolosa downed 623.
Ellen "Feliciti" Bernabe and Rey Dela registered a four game series of 672 and 646 to be on top in Calabarzon II and coming-in next were Benjie Domado (572), Jene Canlas (531) and Tenz Taeza (531). Jess Bersamin poured-in 531 series in three games.
