JEDDAH, 15 March — Internet@Kape and its star player Alex Guinto cornered the spotlight on the 30th week of the long running 42-week Tuesday Night League organized by the Brotherhood Bowling Group (BBG) at the 24-lane Jeddah Bowling Center.
Internet snatched the team of the week award with the score of 84 points through the sterling performances of Goying Salazar, Roger Dacquioag, Alex Guinto and Ishaq Mohammad. The quartet swept 852 pins at the start to earn 19 points, drilled 862 on the second game equivalent to 21 points and accelerated on the final bend to swipe 22 points (871 pins). Their total tally of 2585 pins received 22 bonus points.
Thunderball tandem of Ghassan Al Masri and Jaffer Al Qatheri roared with all their might yet their strength was not enough to stop the incredible team play of Internet@Kape. After the debris of pins was cleared, Thunderball submitted 59 points.
Internet’s prize, however, will be awarded to Top Gun in accordance with the existing rules. Internet received their prize on the 29th week when they registered 76.5 points, next to prolific team award winner KKB (83.5).
Top Gun snipped 73 points through the sharp shooting skills of Bert Tuvera, Leo Edejer, Rudy Valenzuela and team captain Ruben Medina. The quartet registered 22 points at the start (877), another 22 maximum points on the second game (897) and eight points on the final set after meeting walls of split (748). Although they bogged down on the last bend, their 3-game series of 2522 was awarded with 21 bonus points.
Consistency propelled Class ‘C’ bowler Alex Guinto to claim the honors in the individual category. Equipped with a 17-pin handicap per game, Guinto commenced his quest with a score of 204. On the second game, he added power to his pendulum swing, swept a high 236. Guinto stepped hard the accelerator on the final game and then speeded away with a big 247 leaving other contenders biting his dust. Class ‘A’ kegler Medina, who has a handicap of 9 pins per game, was the front-runner after the second game when he hit 10 strikes for a whooping 279 but he met walls of splits and bogged down on the third with a dismal score of 143. His first game was 203.
In another pair of lanes, SkyFreight Forwarders survived from the threat posted by Abudawood Trading Establishment. After a poor showing at the start, SkyFreight bounced back with the pair of Cris Villavelez and Rene Santiago unloading crates of pins and brought the team’s score to 67 points. Abudawood’s Lindo Villanueva and Emil Payongayong were fiercely trading marks against SkyFreight but the pair could only manage to register 60 points.
Saudi Diyar Consultants outscored the powerful Al Ahadal Establishment (65-40 points) through the good games of Olie Jacinto, Egay Samartino, Jerry Valle and Raul de los Reyes.
Benjie Cils dazzled on the second game and led MBC in recording 46 points while Jhun Lazaga powered Power Strikers to collect 24 points. Otra Cosa pair of Jun Pilipina and Val Magsino humbled the Seiko tandem of Albert Sarte and Arnold Biblanias. Otra Cosa swept 57 points and Seiko clocked 46.
The handicap-rich quartet of N-Ball led by team captain Alex Tabusares posted 52 points after delivering a 3-game series of 2360. Al Alamiah Insektos played unopposed by Bakin & Co., added 52 to their accumulated points and retained the top slot in the chart.
Top Gun’s Ruben Medina and Hero Garcia of Abudawood Trading joined the BBG Elite Club by posting 279 and 253, respectively. Rey Cariaso of KKB was the lone winner of a special prize for converting into spare the 6-7-10 split. The indefatigable Arnold C. Alday chairs the BBG Tuesday Night League here at the Jeddah Bowling Center.
