RIYADH, 22 March — The Philippine National Bank (PNB) team keglers captained by Jun Pineda and managed by Usman Navarro squeezed past the defending champions, the Stinger, 23-13 on the 2nd week of the STBC 18th Conference Sunday Night Bowling League at the Riyadh Inter.Continental Hotel Bowling Center.

It was the PNB’s first resounding victory and helped them secure their hold on the fifth spot ahead of the Stingers team. Jimmy Ocampo had 834 series in four games, with a game high of 209 and 237 in the first and second games. In the penultimate game, PNB’s Jene Canlas, Elmer Penoso and Vher Cayago focused on Ocampo, giving Ocampo their best output to hit the target. Canlas shot 776 series, Penoso and Cayago toppled 755 and 751 series in four games, respectively. Zeny Siapco sparkled too to add a series of 638 in three games while Vicky Vitug contributed 187 in one game.

Sharing award with the PNB team was Leo Estacio of the RB Lanekings who captured the coveted best bowler of the week. Estacio scored a four-game series of 837 points.

Topscoring in the powerhouse Stinger is the tandem of Rey Perez and Art Palustre who tallied a separate four-game series of 822 and 807. Rina Labo and Wilson Ringor poured a series of 768 and 765 in four outings while Eddie Eder downed 559 points in three matches. Boy Fogata scored 186 in one game.

The Quadro rolled past the undermanned Philippine Embassy, 22-0. At the limelight in the Quadro team were the troika of Beth Danganan, Romy Repia and Sam Bejar. Danganan rolled 793 series while Repia had 766 and Bejar fired 734 pinfalls. Dante Cambare, Abdulrahman Jose and Rene Estrada pulled-off a separate two game series of 376, 339 and 333.

The Philippine Embassy playing with a blind bowler collected overall total team output of 3181 pinfalls with Neil Gafur on top with 770 series. Arnold “turbo” Salcedo rolled a series of 660 in four games while Jun Arenas garnered 587 points.

The league leader, the Saudi British Bank recorded another impressive win against the Power Grip, 21-6. Eden Bergonio, Willie Pamilaran and Egai Asuncion burned the lanes to lead in the Saudi British Bank team. Bergonio and Pamilaran snatched a series of 799 and 798 and Asuncion pocketed 784. Ellen “felicity” Bernabe, Rey Dela and Fe Ricaldel sealed a series of 357, 343 and 329 in two outings.

On top in the Power Grip squad are Ed Cunanan and Benny Quebral with a series of 732 and 717. Next was Gladys Acosta (642), followed by Almer Cabangon (545), Bal Marcelino (324.

Other matches: Controllers beat PK-Boomerang (18-12), RB Lanekings beat ABB Tribe (16-11), Inevitable Bt. Barkada (14-9).
