RIYADH, 29 March — The SkyFreight Forwarders, the pioneer, trusted and reliable cargo forwarders in the Kingdom through its General Manager Emy de Guzman and the ABS-CBN The Filipino Channel (TFC) through Nonoy Velo, Middleast Director will support the staging of the 2nd OFW Worldwide Summer Balikbayan Bowling Tournament. The event will be held on April 25, 2002 at the SM City Bowling Center, SM Annex Building, North Edsa, West Avenue, Quezon City, Philippines.
OFW bowlers around the globe will be seen in action in this prestigious event hosted and organized by the Overseas Filipino Workers Bowlers of Riyadh (OFWBR). The theme for this year’s event “Pagkakaisa at Pagkakaibigan ng mga Manggagawang Pilipino sa Ibayong Dagat (unity and friendship)” is most appropriate and fitting for the occasion. The participants will not only win the games, but to meet new OFW Balikbayans around the world.
Registration time will start at 7:30 a.m. till 9:30 a.m. and the registration fee is two thousand pesos (PHP 2,000) inclusive of Summer Balikbayan souvenir t-shirt sponsored by the SkyFreight Forwarders. The event will be covered live by the ABS-CBN TFC and Bantay-Bata 163 crew starting at 1:00 p.m.
Format: Qualifying Round ñ OFWs are only eligible to participate in the tournament. Participants will play a six-game series scratch. Female bowler will be given a 15 points handicap per game. There will be lane movement for each game.
Depending on the number of the participants, i.e. more than 100, Top 40 will advance to the semifinal round. Less than 100 entries, Top 20 will advance to the semifinal round.
Semifinal round: The Top 40 or 20 players after the qualifying round will play a four-game series scratch to determine the Top 10 players who will advance to the final round. All scores back to zero and there will be lane movement for each game.
Final round: The Top 10 players will play another four game series scratch to determine the Top five (5) finishers who will advance to the Stepladder match. All Scores back to zero and there will lane movement for each game. Prizes: cash prize that will be awarded to champion and runners-up and high scratch score will be computed based on the total number of entries. Prizes will be awarded to the Top 10 players.
