RIYADH, 29 March — Willie Pamilaran and the Ariba-Arabia team keglers showed way to capture separate awards by clinching the best player and best team of the week awards in the 19th week of the Giordano Fashions/OFWBR “Payanigan” Wednesday Bowling League at the Riyadh Inter-Continental Hotel Bowling Centre.
The Ariba-Arabia team clinched the best team of the week award as Benjie Bangug inspired them to a 22-12 victory over the struggling Game ka na ba team. Bangug posted a remarkable four-game series of 812 and had rolled 191, 193, 174 and 223 as the Ariba-Arabia pulled a convincing win to emerge as the week’s best team.
Manny Balangue seared the lanes to score a series of 720 in four matches while Leo Agote dazzled to post a series of 606 in four outings.
Noel Morales sparkled as he scored a series of 560 in three games. Dave Pare, Oliver Basa and Vher de Castro contributed a series of 374, 347 and 320 in two matches, respectively.
For the Game ka na ba team, hitting the best series scores is the duo of Fred Zacarias and Malco Muyco who toppled 763 and 738. Jell Tan and the graceful Gigi Enriquez sizzled to score a separate four game series of 690 and 604. Rene Tanglao toppled a series of 565 in three sets.
Best player of the week awardee, Willie Pamilaran produced a record breaking performance of 837 points as the Philippine National Bank got their winning streak with an historic 20-12 hammering the league leader, the Calabarzon II.
Also founding the right mark in the PNB side was the heroic games of Dong Calub who tallied a series of 818 to came-in next to Pamilaran as the PNB’s next best scorer. PNB country manager, Usman Navarro shot a series of 760 and James Frizzle added 730 pinfalls in four outings. Romy Cruz and Bert Barriga contributed a separate two game series of 390 and 365.
The tandem of Jimmy Ocampo and Rey Dela led in the Calabarzon II team keglers by carding an identical four game series of 749. Jess Bersamin wrapped up a series of 734 in four games and Ellen Bernabe fired a four game series of 730. Jene Canlas poured 693 pinfalls in four matches.
The Pin Heads team mentored by Egai Asuncion humbled the fancied Split Converters (20-12) and topscoring in the Pin Heads squad Noel Marquez with 780 series, followed by Rene Clemente (776), Asuncion (774), Ric Urrutia (73) and Bert Bantillan (682).
The combination of Dante Prado and Rolly Manalang submitted a separate four game series of 746 and 740 to be on top in the Split Converters team. Marvin Arocena had 560 series in three games and Romy Matic and Joe Concepcion scored a separate two game series of 380 and 358.
