RIYADH, 29 March — The Philippine National Bank (PNB) bowling team and Toom Sriprom displayed separate sterling performances to emerge as the best Team of the Week and the best Bowler of the Week awardees on the 3rd week of the STBC Sunday Family Bowling League being played at the Riyadh Inter.Continental Hote Bowling Center.
The Philippine National Bank team managed by Usman Navarro and captained by Jun Pineda extended their winning streak by pulling out a 26-6 victory over the Saudi British Bank in last week’s action as Elmer Penoso, Vher Cayago, Zeny Siapco and James Frizzle sparkled a separate four game series of 769, 736, 757 and 756 to lift the PNB’s astounding victory against the Saudi British Bank team. Romy Cruz and Bernie Sarmiento extended their splendid support by posting a series of 397 and 375 in two matches. PNB garnered overall total team output handicap of 3817 points and went home the title for bagging their second best Team of the Week award.
The scientific Francis Guron showed way in the Saudi British Bank by carding a remarkable four-game series of 834. STBC chairman Egai Asuncion and the prolific Ellen “Feliciti” Bernabe sizzled to post a separate series of 761 and 741 in four games. Oca Bernabe and Eden Bergonio, likewise, dazzled to score a series of 525 and 504 in three outings.
Also sharing the bowling limelight with the PNB and Toom were the keglers of the PK-Boomerang of Reden Tulabut who dismantled the Philippine Embassy (24-4). At the forefront in the PK-Boomerang is the dynamic duo of Alma Lee and Jun “wonder boy” Malana who toppled a separate four-game series of 838 and 811.
Rolly “PK4” Amis burned the lanes to follow Lee and Malana as the next player submitting the best output. Amis rolled a four game series of 796. The comebacking Noli Ritual together with Larry Mondoy scored a three game series of 592 and 580 while Tulabut had a series of 351 in two games.
Arlene Arenas trimmed 814 series for the Philippine Embassy team while Neil Gafur and Gin Disomimba chipped in a separate series of 760 and 720 in four games. Taps Alawi rolled 523 pinfalls in three matches and Lino Durante toppled 494 series.
Junises Bation scored a career high by posting a four-game series of 825 which powered the Inevitable to subdue the Power Grip (23-6). Rodel Huidem, Bernie Magbag, Bobby Jamora and Beth Timpog added a series of 799, 785, 738 and 723.
On top in the Power Grip was Gladys Acosta with 804 series in four games, followed by Donjie Mapalad (726), and Almer Cabangaon (689). Benny Quebral snatched 597 series in three games and Bal Marcelino had 476 points. Larry Manalo downed a series of 331 in two games.
Results of other matches: ABB Tribe beat Quadro (21-9), Stinger beat Barkada (20-18), Controllers beat RB Laneking (18-16).
