JEDDAH, 29 March — As pins fell unabated at the Panther Energy Drink Sunday kegfest at the Jeddah Bowling Center, Otra Cosa brought down Bicol Saro back to earth on a 4-1 (2,325-2,304) margin of pinfalls with Hashim Guinomla and Jun Pilipina in the forefront for the winners. Guinomla carded a high first game of 237 and Pilipina strung up 218 in his third game to turn back the spirited performance of Bicolandia’s Benjie Cils who narrowly missed a Panther Energy Drink bonus pot money as he was just a point-shy slamming 268 pins in game one. Cils then faded to 192 and 162 pinfalls in his succeeding attempts and that was the similar route his teammates took in handing victory over to Otra Cosa.
The principal sponsor of this kegfest is Panther Energy Drink distributed by Marrot Jizan Co. and is represented by its General Manager Abdullah Bashwari and manager Abdul Rahman. Cash and other exciting prizes for special awardees are provided in the tourney being undertaken by the Jeddah Bowling League (JBL) led by its chairman Odjie Sagcal, technical head Rally Zamora and secretary-treasurer Igna Salgado. The other minor sponsors are Sarawat Superstores, Green Farms Alesayi and Alpha Phi Omega fraternity.
Meanwhile, the JBL through Salgado announced that their group will already be undertaking the preparation for the formation of a powerhouse bowling delegation from Jeddah for a forthcoming sportsfest to be held in Qatar in September. Funding of the delegation is the main pre-occupation for Jeddah-based bowling organizations and the JBL is slated to conduct Fun Games for the purpose which will. Start this Sunday at the Jeddah Bowling Congress. A minimum of 30 participants will be reduced to Top 20 on a scratch series first three games-back to zero format. Another two games follow thereafter and the Top 4 finalists will win special awards and prizes.
Publicis Graphics got the much-needed boost from Mhar Narvasa to edge out Saudi Youth 3-2.
Narvasa pinned a high 653 three-game series and teammates Chris Villavelez toppled 577 and Roger Daquioag came with a sizzling 224 in the second frame and a 567 total while Danny Cofreros playing with a handicap 14 submitted 507 to secure the victory.
The Saudi Youth were actually leading 1631-1510 after completing the second game with Wail Hamdah initiating a strong spurt of 244 and Bassam scoring 236 in the second game.
However, they were not able to keep their composure in the third canto as Publicis Graphis turned back the tables capitalizing on the horrible collapse of their rivals, 908-707.
Nazzer Abdulaziz, Bassam and Wael Hamsha had strong lines of 639, 631 and 612, respectively but the atrociously low 461 pinfalls of Naif Bakhet was a great burden to overcome.
Sarawat blanked Jeddah Bowlers, 5-0 (2,294-2,110) as the quartet of Val Magsino, Abet Sarie, Levy Janaban and Dante Rivero trashed their counterparts Mahmood Hussein, Abdullah Harbi, Ahmed Hobaini and Jaffer AlKatheri as they occupied lanes 14 and 13, respectively. Insekto fashioned out a 5-0 win via default over Strikers and the game was highlighted by Nonie Yap’s roll of 212 pins in the second game.
Bowlmasters defeated Ramiz & Friends 3-2 behind Cyril Balasilo’s good lines of 210, 209 and 205 while Randy Mata seared the lanes in game 2 with 229 to offset his low 133 and 168 first and third game productions.
