JEDDAH, 29 March — Tetra Pak outfought Arifco 56-52 in Seiko-JBLIC year 2002 basketball tournament played at COCG basketball court here in Industrial City State Phase 1. It was a ding-dong battle between the two teams. Tetra Pak managed to dictate the tempo of the game in the last 2 minutes of the fourth quarter when Arifco started to feel the pressure and missed some important jumpers. Morales top score with 22 points for Tetra Pak while Agustin scored 30 points for Arifco.

In the next game, Saudi Diyar bounce back from their first loss and beat CPMC 72-58. Both teams played well up to the third quarter. In the resumption of the fourth quarter, Saudi Diyar applied pressure defense to the ball carrier. CPMC tried to keep the game at bay but later lose their steam in the dying minutes. Boy Manila and Tipon scored 20 and 16 points respectably for Saudi Diyar while Alimurong top score with 24 points for CPMC.

In the next game, Seiko-Butler beat Nepro Plastic 60-50. Last week it was Nepro caught Completa in their off night, this time it was Nepro in the same situation as Completa. Nepro tried hard to contain the Seiko-Butler with their running game but of Seiko-Butler answered back their repeatedly rally. Arce and Borbon scored 14 and 13 points respectably for Seiko-Butler while Dela Cruz top score with 19 points for Nepro plastic.

In Friday’s game, UPC scored their second straight victory against Al Aoun Factory 68-63. Both teams displayed organized basketball in the whole game. With only 4 minutes remaining in the game, UPC Warriors attacked the defense of Al Aoun factory to grab the lead. Al Aoun tried to sneak back to the game but started to feel exhausted in the dying minutes and miss some easy baskets. Manaois top score with 13 points for UPC supported by Diaz with 13 points while Inotantes scored 24 points for Al Aoun Factory.

In the next game, United Carton beat Friesland Completa 67-48. United Carton showed supremacy in the shaded area with their taller lineup controlling the rebounding department. Completa tried to get back to the game with their three points outside snipping with Jopre Quevedo providing the needed put backs. With only 5 minutes remaining in the final period, United Carton applied the man-to-man defense and the back door plays to contain the never-say-die Completa. Goc-ong topscored with 17 points for United Carton while Quevedo scored 18 points for Completa.

In the last game, FFP Sunbulah defeated Giordano 82-65. Giordano Fashions displayed they can be the darkhorse in this tournament, they managed to outplay the FFP Sunbulah defense up to the third quarter. FFP Sunbulah with their star-studded lineup applied their killer run and gun offense and surprised the exhausted Giordano Fashions. Cadingan and Villanueva scored 26 and 21 points respectably for FFP Sunbulah while Francisco scored 25 points for Giordano Fashions.
