JEDDAH, 9 April — Favorites Al Ittihad maintained their supremacy in the King’s Cup soccer tournament here yesterday by defeating Al Ahli 4-1.

Ittihad took an early 2-0 lead when Brazilian Sergio scored in quick succession to put his side in a strong position.

Ahli, however, brought some life into the proceedings when Khalid Gahwaji struck early in the second half to reduce the margin.

But Ittihad put the match beyond Ahli’s reach when Sergio struck again crisply to complete his hat trick for his team’s third goal.

Hasan Al-Yami then rounded off the tally to sustain Ittihad’s supremacy over their rivals.

Ittihad remain top with 49 points from 22 games. Ahli are in fourth place with 40 points from 22 games.
