JEDDAH, 3 May — Jeddah Cricket League is pleased to report that Hempel Paints has decided to continue to sponsor JCL tournament. This is the second year in succession of sponsoring the JCL tournament.

Talking at the handing over ceremony of the sponsorship check, Gary Seabrook, regional manager of Hempel Paints Eastern and Western Province, said that he was pleased to support an organization which was doing very well in promoting the game of cricket in Jeddah.

He was greatly impressed at the Cricket Complex Facilities of JCL with their 9 grounds in one location which he recognized as very unique. Seabrook said that Hempel Paints has supported and sponsored various sport events such as basketball, tennis, chess, football, golf etc. in the past and the support to JCL is a part of this set policy in encouraging sports activities for Saudi and expatriate community in the Kingdom. Iqbal Chaudhary, executive secretary of JCL, received the sponsorship check on behalf of JCL.

He thanked Hempel Paints for their continued support, not only for the sponsorship but also for the protective coating provided by Hempel to protect the concrete pitches, and for the pavilion constructed at the ground which has made the Hempel Paints ground one of the favored grounds to play on.

He informed that the tournament will last for 11 weeks and the Division 2 which Hempel has sponsored, will have 22 teams, including the Hempel Paints’ own team, playing firstly the round-robin league matches followed by knockout phase starting with the quarterfinals of the teams that qualify from the league groups.

It should be remembered that JCL has 54 clubs, with 8 under-19 school teams and 15 under-15 school teams registered under their banner.
