JEDDAH, 10 May — Indian School recorded their second victory over Bangladesh School (English Section) by 4 wickets and secured their place in the quarterfinals of Under-15 Jeddah Inter-School Tournament organized by JCL. In the other matches, Continental School beat Jeddah Prep by 3 runs, Saad Bin Abi Waqas raced to a 7 wickets win over Al Wadi and Al Waha won by 115 runs against Hala Int. School.
Bangladesh batting first scored 153 runs in their allotted overs. Openers Emad and Imran started their innings with confidence and put up a first wicket partnership of 59 runs in 8 overs. Emad was in top form scoring a magnificent 55 with the help of 4 fours. Imran and Prio scored 25 runs each. Mudassar of Indian School did most of the damage. He took 3 wickets for just 14 runs. Kamran 2 for 30 was also pick of the bowlers. Chasing a reasonable total of 153, Indian School lost its opener Amjad at 42. He scored 15 runs. Then fall of 2 quick wickets put Indian School under pressure. Mudassar after performing with the ball in the first innings played a brilliant role while batting. He scored 46 runs and shared partnerships with Rameez and Sohail 17 each. Nawab played a winning stroke on the 3rd ball of the last over to give his School an exciting win. Shadee of Bangladesh School took 3 for 21 and Asif and Omar 1 each for 21 and 36 runs respectively.
Saad Bin Abi Waqas registered a comfortable win over Al Wadi International School. Batting first, Al Wadi managed to score 152 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Aziz took the charge after losing his partner in the first over and scored 26 runs in just 11 balls. Saif Mansour and Mohsin Iqbal shared a 53 runs partnership and scored 30 and 17 runs respectively. Hussain Bhatti of Al Wadi took 3 for 29, Ehtisham 1 for 24 and Aqeel 1 for 29. Saad Bin Abi Waqas raced to victory in just 14.3 overs. Openers Ayman 41 and Rizwan 20 went on a rampage hitting the ball all around the wicket. They put up an opening stand of 53 runs in the first 5 overs. Hussain Bhatti did the rest. He scored 50 runs by hitting 3 balls to the boundary. Saif took 2 for 30 and Aziz 1 for 42.
Al Waha School piled up 243 in just 20 overs at the rate of 12.15 runs per over against Hala International School. Al Waha dominated the innings from the beginning. Both the openers Ali Ashraf 68 and Zaid 53 put up a stand of 118 runs for the 1st wicket. Anas Nadwi 22 and Abeed 61 engraved another entertaining 77 runs partnership after the dismissal of both the openers. Abeed hit 2 huge sixes and 8 boundaries in just 25 balls. Hassan and Khalid of Hala School took 1 wicket each. Chasing a huge total, Hala School could manag to score 128 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Fuzail resisted against the hostile bowling of Al Waha School, and scored 34 runs by hitting 3 balls to the boundaries. Abeed once again demonstrated his skills by taking first 2 wickets for 35 runs and then stumping 3 batsmen. Zaid, Ali and Usman took 2 wickets each for 27, 22 and 15 runs, respectively.
Continental School maintained their superiority over Jeddah Prep by winning this week’s game in a very close game. Continental, the winners of previous game, hardly managed to escape from defeat.
Elected to bat, Continental scored 146 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Opener Ryan Young was first to depart after scoring 13 runs including 2 boundaries. Umair Khan, the key run-getter for Continental School, drove 5 balls to the fence in his 32 runs knock. Kasim 23, Yousaf 25 and Saad 26 were the other contributors to the total. Zain 2 for 25 and Salman 2 for 22 were the only successful bowlers. Jeddah Prep, anxious for a win did not perform well with the bat. Owais scored 27 runs before falling to Ryan who took 3 for 15. Sarfraz and Abdullah were the other batsmen to score 15 and 13 runs respectively. The highest contribution came from Continental School when it gave away 53 extra runs. It was the combination of wide and no balls, which formed 5 extra overs. Jeddah Prep required 8 runs to win in the last over but managed to score only 5 runs and suffered with their 2nd defeat of the tournament. Sanjeet and Zuhair took 2 wickets each.
