JEDDAH, 24 May — Danny Bautista, Ed Labuac, Bonnie Garcia and Bob Marcantel synchronized their outstanding performances to propel The Falcons to claw away the 40th Team of the Week award at a total score of 85 points.

Pitted against the equally powerful Sarawat Aces team, The Falcons crushed Sarawat Aces when they flapped their wings on the second game (21-6 points) and spread their wings on the final encounter (22-14 points).

After an uphill struggle and loosing the first game by one mark (751-758 pins), the ‘hawks’ re-positioned their players on the second game. Gunner Bob Marcantel shifted his gear bagged four strikes for a very impressive start (225). Bautista, Labuac and Garcia drilled several marks for additional power, swept 767 pins for 21 points. ‘Aces’ Igna Salgado (127) and Odjie Sagcal (131) lost control of their cards, hit several splits and pulled down the team to score an unprecedented low series of 672 (6 points).

The ‘hawks’ spread their wings and soared high on the final match through the impressive games of Bautista, Labuac and Garcia, and brought their series to 809 for the 22 maximum points. The four ‘aces’ submitted 741 pins and collected 14 points.

The prize, however, will be given to the team with a logo of four question marks and one exclamation point (????!) in accordance with the existing rules. The team scored 59 points through James Galvan, Eddie Tuico, Rudy Sagum and Art Sta. Maria.

In another pair of lanes, Class ‘C’ bowler Raul delos Reyes led Saudi Diyar Consultants in their search for more points en route to collecting the elusive bowler of the week award. Reyes, equipped with the 21-pin handicap per game, fired a 3-game series of 626. He shot 194 on game one, 174 at the penultimate and on the final bend he blasted the lanes with a scratch score of 195.

Saudi Diyar Consultants swiped 61 points during the 3-game encounter and received 21 bonus points when Epoy Santos, Resty Regio and Jerry Valle assisted Reyes in producing 2310 pins. Top Gun went home with 71.5 points.

PICPA-PRO outscored Thunderball when Jimmy Rosillo, Gil Martos, Danny Cofreros and Rey Vinoya collected 14 points on the second set. The final tally was 35-23.

Al Alamiah Insektos collected 53.5 points unopposed. The opposing Power Strikers team did not show up. ‘Insekto’ Sid Lapena seared the lanes and scored a high 255, his 4th entry to the BBG Elite Club. Abudawood Trading registered 38 points with a series of 2065. D’Amigos posted a series of 1930 and went home with 17 points.

SkyFreight Forwarders unloaded 54 points over the shoulders of Cris Villavelez, Edu Toledo, Rene Santiago and Fred Monzon. Al-Ahadal Establishment traded 40 points through Ramis Ayoub, Rey Beltran, Mishal Hamdi and Talal Al Twaireb.

Internet@Kape survived the threat of Seiko when on the final bend Goying Salazar, Roger Dacquioag, Mixi Lechuga and Alex Guinto unleashed their ire, bouncing back to their form after scoring low on the penultimate. The games carded 25-23. Jess Pineda, Benjie Cils, Dante Calapatia and Liny Suriaga took advantage of the no-show of Bakin & Co. The quartet recorded 65 points.

Libby’s Hot Line made an impressive showing on the second game (20 points) when Lino Traquina, Nick Suing, Vera Verasak and Mar Narvasa swept 759. Pitted against KKB, Libby’s canned 62 points. KKB collected 34.5 through the good games of Randy Mata, Ver Luz, Cril Balasico and Bobby Barraquel.

N-Ball and Otra Cosa have had a cardiac finish game till the last frame and up to the final counting of points on the scoreboard. When the last point was recorder, N-Ball edged out Otra Cosa by one-half point (64.5-64) when it tied with Al Alamiah at game one (9.5 points each) and when it snatched the maximum 22 points on the second game at a score of 782.

In a related development, the heat had intensified at the qualifying rounds of the First Summer Open Bowling Tournament going on at the Jeddah Bowling Center (JBC). The event, which has a total cash prize of more than SR30,000, is jointly organized by the Brotherhood Bowling Group (BBG), Filipino Tenpin Bowlers of Jeddah (FTBJ) and the Jeddah Bowlers League (JBL).

The tournament, open to all male bowlers in the Kingdom, will last until May 30. The rules and format of the tournament are posted at the JBC Bulletin Board.
