RIYADH, 24 May — Four of the ten man Samama East & West team scored double figures and powered the team to victory, 71-66, over Dunkin Donut in another classic and quality basketball show of the Filipino basketball league (FBL), Non-commercial 5’10 below, held at the 8th Contracting Compound.

J. Berdon scored 16 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and did 2 shot blocks to spearhead the cargo movers into a grueling battle of tactics and play execution. Farnal who had 14 points, Semella poured in 13 points and Santiago added 11, backed Berdon from the outset of the first quarter all the way down to the finish of the game. Samama still remains the team to beat in the league, topped the elimination round 4 wins and no loss.

The donut makers had a four-point advantage at the end of the first quarter 14-18. Policarpio who grabbed 10 rebounds, 6 assist and 4 shot blocks scored only nine points during the game. San Diego, who came out of nowhere, was the most prolific player in the game scored 20 points grabbed 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. Solis made 12 points, Telan 11 points and Carlos 10 points did some backings of some sort.

Statistically the donut makers under coach dela Cruz had a great start in the offensive department and went on to dominate the board defensively but in the half time they lost the intensity and precision in the offense as the Samama team intensified their offense in the perimeter. It could have been a tough game for Samama did Policarpio made offensive scoring in the low post area as what has always been assigned to him. Sufficient backings from the bench plus the time factor and the intensity in the offense made the Samama East and West victorious at the end of the game.

In the other game of the day, Dr. Café beat the undermanned TFC/ABS-CBN 75-65. Macapaar and Zahri tandem made some great offenses, as they scored 22 points each. Jose and Wilson of TFC have also been prolific by scoring 20 and 22 points respectively.
