TOKYO, 27 May — Prince Nawaf ibn Faisal, deputy chief of the Youth Welfare Presidency and head of the Saudi delegation to the World Cup finals, yesterday commended the high morale of Saudi players.
“Our team is fully prepared for the World Cup finals,” he told reporters after attending a training session of the 23-member Saudi squad at the Tokyo stadium on the outskirts of Chofu.
Prince Nawaf said he was optimistic that the Saudi team would give an excellent performance in the international soccer extravaganza, upholding the name of Saudi soccer.
The prince praised the Japanese soccer fans for supporting the Saudi team. “I am extremely thankful to the Japanese public, especially those in Chofu, for supporting the Saudi team during its training,” the prince said and hoped that they would continue to back the team during its World Cup encounters. Saudi Arabia are to meet Germany on June 1 in their opening match.
