JEDDAH, 31 May — In a move to guarantee the protection of its exclusive rights, the Arab Digital Distribution Company has issued a warning against coffee shops, hotels and similar establishments, against displaying telecast of world cup soccer matches if they did not subscribe for it, Okaz quoted Abdul Rahman Al-Dawaeb, director general of the company as saying.
A committee has been set up to inspect the violations of the ban.
The subscription rates, which depend on the size of the establishment, range between SR 5000 and SR20,000. Already 80 coffeehouses in the city have subscribed for the world event that starts today.
World Cup set for overcast opening
In Seoul, the World Cup will kick off today in cloudy weather with a thin chance of rain, South Korea’s weather forecasters said. The temperature is expected to move in a range of 15 to 26 degrees Celsius with a 20 percent possibility of rain, the Korea Meteorological Administration said on Thursday.
