RIYADH, 5 January 2003 — Top security officers from Gulf Arab states are to meet in Kuwait today to review the situation in the region as the US buildup continues for a possible attack on Iraq, a newspaper reported yesterday. The senior members of the secret services of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states will focus on the consequences of a war on Iraq, said Al-Riyadh, quoting informed Kuwaiti security sources. They will also review “developments and consequences” witnessed by the GCC states recently, a reference to a number of attacks against US targets and anti-war protests. The meeting aims “at coordinating positions at this critical period,” the daily said. (AFP)
