RIYADH, 24 January 2003 — Dr. Ali ibn Nasser Al-Ghafis, governor of the General Organization for Technical Education and Vocational Training (GOTEVOT), has said a project for evaluating the job skills of Saudi and non-Saudi workers has been submitted to higher authorities for approval. He said the project will enhance efficiency and productivity by helping put the right people in the right jobs. He hoped that the testing system would meet the requirements of the job market. The project will be implemented next September after approval from the authorities. GOTEVOT will review the system every six months and incorporate changes if necessary. More than 1,500 companies and 500 professionals contributed to a study that helped determine the standards for the testing system. The agency also studied standards set by developed countries such as Australia, Canada, Malaysia and South Korea.
