DAMMAM, 6 February 2003 — Arab News and Le Gulf Meridien, in cooperation with Saudi Digital Distribution (Pehla), are setting up a cricket pavilion at Le Gulf Meridien in Alkhobar, where people can watch the World Cup matches on big screen in a full cricketing atmosphere. Arab News and Gulf Meridien Hotel organized a similar telecast of the 1999 World Cup, which proved a huge success.
The pavilion has been set up on the first floor of the hotel and a special menu has been prepared to match the cricket mood. It includes Full Toss oriental salad; Sixer ceaser salad with grilled chicken breast; Swing Spaghetti Bolognese; Spin Pizza; Wide Ball pakora; Yorker vegetarian sandwich; Bouncer beef burger; Hat Trick chicken biryani; Captain’s special; and Umpire’s choice. The pavilion is fitted with the latest audio and video system so that all visitors can have a clear view of the match. In addition to a large screen itself, there will also be several large TV sets.
Every day a quiz will also be held in the pavilion. One question will be asked, and the winners will get instant prizes. On the final day there will be a closing ceremony at the pavilion and bigger prizes will be given in other competitions. The prizes are being donated by Saudi Arabian Airlines Catering, Asia International School and Bitumat, a water-proofing company.
The pavilion will open 15 minutes before the beginning of the match. All inquiries should be directed to Prashant Sharma, revenue manager at Le Gulf Meridien, (tel.) 864 -6000 or (mobile) 054940516.
