JEDDAH, 23 February 2003 — At least 25 people were killed and more than 80 injured in five traffic accidents in the southwest of the Kingdom involving two buses and several cars, local press reports said. Al-Watan daily said 12 people of various nationalities were killed and 41 injured when their bus collided on Thursday with a truck coming from Bahrain and then overturned in a valley on the Riyadh-Taif Expressway. Three members of a Saudi family were killed and nine injured when their car overturned on another section of the same highway on Thursday. Meanwhile, seven members of another Saudi family died and seven were seriously hurt in another accident on Thursday in the Asir region as they headed for a wedding party. A Pakistani truck driver was also injured. Three drivers also died, and 22 other people were injured, five seriously, when a bus carrying Saudi pilgrims from Madinah to the Eastern Province collided with two cars on Friday.
