TUNIS, 27 February 2003 — Labor and Social Affairs Minister Dr. Ali Al-Namlah said yesterday that the Kingdom was seeking to cut down on foreign manpower recruitment to create more jobs for its nationals. However, the country was still employing foreign workers in order to meet its needs, he added. Addressing the Arab labor conference here, the minister also disclosed that many of the Kingdom’s small and medium firms, which account for 90 percent of the total, were facing financial, marketing and administrative problems. “As the problems facing small and medium-scale companies in Arab countries are similar, we have to continue coordination and consultation to set out regulations and plans to solve them, making use of the experience of other countries,” Al-Namlah said.
