JEDDAH, 1 March 2003 — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd has given Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz ibn Abdullah Al-Sheikh a second four-year term, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported yesterday. A decree issued by the king said Al-Sheikh “will retain the post of grand mufti of Saudi Arabia for four years, with minister’s rank,” effective end-March. Al-Sheikh became Saudi Arabia’s highest religious authority on May 15, 1999, succeeding Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Baz, who had passed away. King Fahd also gave Assistant Interior Minister for Security Affairs Prince Muhammad ibn Naif , another four-year term in office. A royal decree said Prince Muhammad “will retain the post of assistant interior minister for security affairs for four years,” effective end of March.
