RIYADH, 27 March 2003 — Riyadh’s regional development council yesterday endorsed a proposal to build 56 new schools — 36 for boys and 20 for girls — in the next academic year. It also approved recommendations aimed at activating the local councils in different regions. The council’s session was chaired by Riyadh Governor Prince Salman. The council’s Secretary-General, Sulaiman Al-Qannas, said the meeting reviewed plans for the development of road networks, a traffic signaling system and a project to regulate the public transport system in Riyadh.
