RIYADH, 9 April 2003 — A Saudi husband shot his 40-year-old wife dead in Riyadh, Al-Watan reported on Monday. The trouble started when the wife left the husband’s house following a quarrel. He threatened to kill her if she did not come back. She called the police, who obtained an undertaking from the husband that he would not harm her. The husband later sneaked into her house while she was holding her three-year-old baby. He shot and wounded the woman who later died on the way to hospital. The baby was not harmed. Al-Watan said the man has two other wives.
