RIYADH, 14 November 2003 — Peter Lachica and Alex Suyo of Phoenix and Bulls led their respective teams in two victories in the ongoing Winter Dart Challenge played at the Cues Recreation Center. The sister teams are now on number 3 and 4 seats in the team standing with Bulls trailing behind Phoenix.
Lachica’s team downed strong contender STR in their first encounter 9-8 in a fast paced contest. Arnel Manguera unleashed the fatal out shot of D20 that blew the hopes of Noel de Leon’s Taytay boys.
In spite of the loss, STR walked home with pride when top Taytay player Fred Villapando snatched the best player award by finishing 501 in 17 darts. Highlighting the other board was Alex Suyo’s Bulls team who scored a convincing 12-5 ending against Edwin Canales’ new team D’Artist. Suyo swept all doubles matches that resulted in victory 9-5.
With the momentum still hot in their grips, the victors also grabbed the team match. Nerio Brosas was tagged the main man by hitting the winning dart of D16 at the end of the last doubles. Sandy Alegre’s Ace Darters also scored a win opposite Eddie Almonte’s Absal Tech, 9-8. Dado Corpuz’s Alesayi Motors jumped to no. 2 seat after clinching another victory from Art Pal’s Black Jack, 16-6 while no. 1 team Wakaray won by default against a no show from D’Insider team of Sports Ghornatah.
Black Jack’s Rino Cervo joins the Ton80 club while Peter Lachica produced another record of 19 darts putting himself in no. 1 spot in the individual standing.
