OTTAWA, 19 November 2003 — The Buffalo Sabres had the right plan to frustrate one of the NHL’s highest scoring teams. J.P. Dumont and James Patrick scored 14 seconds apart early in the third and Martin Biron made 23 saves in Buffalo’s 2-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Monday night. Dumont scored from the slot 1:52 into the third to break a scoreless tie, and Patrick added his third of the season at 2:06. Ottawa defenseman Wade Redden scored for the third straight game, pulling the Senators within one with a power-play goal at 4:10. Ottawa’s last eight goals have come with the man advantage, including a team-record five Thursday nights against Columbus.
