DENVER, 20 November 2003 — Teemu Selanne scored with 1:49 to go in overtime to give the short-handed Colorado Avalanche a 2-1 win over the Anaheim Mighty Ducks on Tuesday.

The Avalanche were again without forwards Peter Forsberg and Paul Kariya but still generated enough offense against Jean-Sebastien Giguere.

Selanne fired a shot from the slot off a pass from Rob Blake past Giguere to clinch victory for Colorado despite a 38-save performance from the Anaheim netminder. David Aebischer made 24 stops in goal for the Avalanche.

The teams were scoreless after two periods but goals by Colorado’s Adam Foote and Anaheim’s Vaclav Prospal 1:26 apart in the third sent the game into overtime.

Flyers 2 Hurricanes 2

In Raleigh, Jeff O’Neill and Nic Wallin tallied in the final 10 minutes of the third period to earn the Carolina Hurricanes a 2-2 tie with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Kevin Weekes made 41 saves for the Hurricanes, who ended Philadelphia’s six-game winning streak.

Simon Gagne and Sami Kapanen netted in the first six minutes of the third period for the Flyers.

Oilers 5 Blackhawks 2

In Edmonton, Radek Dvorak recorded two goals and an assist to lead the Oilers past the Chicago Blackhawks 5-2.

Raffi Torres, Ethan Moreau and Jarrett Stoll also scored for Edmonton while Ty Conklin made 33 saves. Mark Bell and Scott Nichol replied for Chicago.

Flames 3 Maple Leafs 2 (OT)

In Calgary, Toni Lydman’s goal 1:14 into overtime handed the Flames a 3-2 triumph over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Steve Reinprecht had a goal and an assist for Calgary. Dean McAmmond also scored while Jarome Iginla added three assists.

Mats Sundin and Bryan McCabe replied for the Maple Leafs, who are 0-1-2-1 in the first four of their six-game road trip.

Canucks 5 Canadiens 4 (OT)

In Vancouver, Mattias Ohlund scored with 1:58 left in overtime as the Canucks edged the Montreal Canadiens 5-4.

Ed Jovanovski (2), Sami Salo and Brendan Morrison also scored for the Canucks, Todd Bertuzzi adding three assists.

Rangers 2 Sharks 2

In San Jose, Marco Sturm’s goal at 10:59 of the third period earned the Sharks a 2-2 tie with the New York Rangers.
