JEDDAH, 18 December 2003 — A festival cricket match between Hyderabadi stars (Hyderabad XI) and the Consul General XI is to be played here today at the JCL Cricket Complex near Haj Terminal.
The match has improvised rules that impart spirit of bonhomie and camaraderie to the occasion. The 18-overs-a-side match will restrict a batsman to not more than 18 balls.
If all 10 players of a side get out before the completion of 18 overs, the 12th, 13th 14th men can bat to complete the quota of overs. Bowlers are restricted to a maximum of 2 overs. They can’t bowl bouncers.
Sadafco, Al Rabie, Al Jedaani Hospital, Naseem Jeddah Polyclinic, Tata, Al Baik Chicken, Hyderabad Sweets are the sponsors.
Jeddah Cricket League President Shahid Amin and the Executive Committee are to attend. Indian Consul General Syed Akbaruddin is to lead the CGI XI team in this match.
