JEDDAH, 19 December 2003 — The All Filipino Tennis Players Association (AFTPA) in affiliation with the Philippine Consulate General and in cooperation with its major sponsor, the Al Hussaini & Co., honored the winners of the recently concluded 8th Seiko Team Tennis Challenge, Year End Team Tennis Tournament.
The awarding ceremony was graced by POLO Welfare Officer Rosauro D.V. Octaviana, Mohammad Ali Taleb, Export Manager of Al Hussaini & Co., Rudy Dianalan Chairman of KASAPI Congress, other community leaders and representatives from various sponsors. The glittering ceremony was anchored by Neil Martin and Christine Javier while the talented singing sensation Jeanette Cervito, Sunny Austria and Richard Balgos provided the added entertainment with their musical renditions. Handsome trophies were presented to the winners while Seiko and Titan watches were raffled off among the players present.
Following are the list of winners: Category C: Champion — SPTC-Vice: Romy Detera Team Captain with members Rading Bautista, Kerwin Vicencio, Bong Bonganciso, Salah Habib, Andy Mundala, Kid Pollo, Alex Rumbines and Raul Velarde. Finalist — SG-Lipton; Semifinalists — SKAB and SPTC-2; Quarterfinalists — Saudi ABV-2, Saudi ABV-1, Hidada-Fabricators and Seiko-Superior.
Category B2: Champion — KAIA/Dynarabia: Gani Gasgonia Team Captain with members Obet Vizcarra, Medel Cruz, Ernie Cunanan, Egay Go, Angelo Quitorio, Jimmy Sabarillo, Nilo Salvadia and Rodel Santillan. Finalist — Hidada Industrial City; Semifinalists -'NCB and SG-Lipton; Quarterfinalists — OFW-SWAJ, Seiko-Titan, Carlo Gavazzi and SRL.
Category B1: Champion — Hempel-Jaforms, Reggie Sanosa Team Captain with team members Ricky Torres, Jun Amancio, Addi Banuelos, Jr. Cablao, Melchor Fiesta, Vooch Maniri, Jimmy Sabarillo and Raymund Sy; Finalist — Seiko-Kinetic; Semifinalists — SG-Lipton and Cabalen.
Mix Category: Champion — SG-Lipton: Greg Damaso Team Captain with team members Leo Borje, Bobby Esquivel, Joe Agregado, Jun Boco, Ronald Dela Cruz, Jess Gatbonton, Albert Reyes and Bong Siquijor; Finalist — Cabalen; Semifinalists — Seiko-Sportura and SRL.
Special awards were also presented to the following players for their outstanding performances throughout the tournament. Best Doubles: Category C: Kerwin Vicencio and Salah Habib — SPTC-Vice; Category B2: Roel Consumo and Abdul Qader — SRL; Category B1: JR Cablao and Jimmy Sabarillo — Hempel-Jaforms; Mix category: B and B1 combined, Gil Baylon and Gerry Alcantara — Seiko-Kinetic; B+ and B1 combined, Bobby Esquivel, Greg Damaso, SG-Lipton.
