MADINAH, 19 December 2003 — Sadafco lifted the summer league cup by defeating Samsung in the final match. Seven teams participated in the tournament organized by the Madinah Cricket Association.
Samsung put up a target of 271 runs in the allotted 30 overs. Qurban Ali pulled the ball toward the boundary seven times in his 59. Nasir with seven boundaries and one six scored 47, while Tariq supported his team with 36 runs. Waheed and Zahid of Sadafco took three and two wickets respectively.
Ijaz the in form batsman from Sadafco, took the challenge seriously and steered his side to victory with superb display of 180 runs. Ijaz broke his own record of 178 runs, the highest ever score in Madinah. In his record-breaking innings, he hammered 21 boundaries and seven towering sixes. Mustafa lent useful support with 48 runs. Sadafco achieved the target in 26 overs with five balls and four wickets to spare.
A brief prize distribution ceremony was also held at ground.
Dr. Mujahid, a well known figure among expatriates, was the chief guest of the ceremony. The winning trophy was presented to Sadafco captain Asim Zain while the runners-up trophy was handed over to Mushtaq, the captain of the Samsung team. Ijaz from Sadafco was declared the man of the match.
